FALL WILD EDIBLES HIKE - Nibble with nature on Saturday, September 11 on a hike onto the Reserve to sample fall wild edibles. Join noted wilderness guide Nicholas Gale for a fun forage in the forest. Fees are $15 for adults ($13.50 for KVR Friends) and $7 for children (with adults).

SOUNDS OF THE RESERVE - Relax to the soothing sounds of nature from the "Star Valley - Spring 2009 Soundscapes" audio CD, now on sale at the Reserve Visitor Center for only $10. This sixty-minute nature recording was captured by a team of ten recordists led by Rich Peet and Rob Danielson. The CD presents an amazing array of Spring sounds from the birds and animals of the Kickapoo Valley recorded near various campsites on the Reserve.

FRIENDS NEWS - A cadre of Friends volunteers led by Nancy Foudray and Joan Kent have made the Community Garden at the Visitor Center a thing of beauty this summer.

The Dam Challenge Triathlon, held annually at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve on the first Saturday of October (this year on October 2), draws participants from throughout the Midwest. Join in the fun and pre-register online at the Reserve's web site now. Don't forget the Friends' Spaghetti Supper on Friday night, October 1 from 5 to 8 PM at the Reserve's Visitor Center.
