HOMECOMNG ON THE RESERVE A display of historic photos of the Kickapoo Valley will be on display at the Visitor Center from July 3-5. Sponsored by the Friends of the Reserve, the display will include photos of many of the properties that were purchased for the La Farge Dam Project. The display may be seen on Friday, July 3 from 6 to 9 PM and on Saturday and Sunday, July 4&5, from 10 AM until 4 PM.
The Old Highway 131 Trail will be open for vehicle traffic on July 4 from Noon until 4 PM. Vehicles should enter at the South Gate.
ANOTHER LOCAL HISTORY CLASSIC TO BE RELEASED Mark your calendars for Friday, July 3 at 7 PM. That's when the latest publishing venture of the Friends of the Reserve, a re-publication of Kickapoo Pearls will be released. This local history classic, first published in the 1970's, will be introduced to the public again at a program and reception at the KVR Visitor Center. The new book will be on sale at that time.
FRIENDS' SALES CORNER Stop in to the KVR Visitor Center and shop at the Friends' corner for a myriad of gift items. With the summer hiking season now in full bloom, a new stainless steel water bottle with the Friends' logo might be just the ticket. A variety of photographic prints from the photo contests are for sale as well as framed photos prints from years past. Three local history books published by the Friends' highlight a number of books for purchase. A variety of cards, t-shirts, and collector plates are also for sale as well as "Fair Trade" coffee by the bag.
